102.7 KIIS FM Comes to Northwood
WEDNESDAY, FEB 11- As a part of its campaign to promote Pack the Gym Night, ASB invited KIIS FM to visit Northwood. When Northwood students saw the gaudy green truck, they knew something was up and gathered around the KIIS FM booth.
The KIIS FM team played music around the Oak Tree, hosting games for prizes such as tickets to the Alice in Wonderland premiere, KIIS FM t-shirts, Regal gift cards, stickers, and so on.
One game, “Clump,” supposedly shows you “how many friends you have in high school.” The DJ would yell a number out and students needed to form groups with that many people. If you didn’t make it into a group, you were out.
They also invited students to show their “Hidden Talents.” Sophomore Natalie Nemec burped out the ABCs, while others showed off their dancing skills.
Unable to fulfill some students’ song requests, however, the KIIS FM crew began to play songs from one of the student’s iPods.
In regards to the event, some students wondered if this was the station’s desperate attempt to win back listeners who defected to Los Angeles’s new station, AMP Radio.
Despite certain misgivings, the general consensus among students was that the KIIS FM crew, and the prizes it came with, were pretty neat.
“I would’ve loved to win some of the free prizes he gave out!” said senior Alicia Wei.
