The Floor Puppetz and Eclectric perform at Haiti relief lunchfest

As part of the school-wide effort to help provide relief for the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti, the Floor Puppets dance crew and Eclectric, an A’Capella singing group, put on a lunchfest at the Oak Tree on Thursday, Feb. 12. Their performances helped to encourage the crowd of Northwood students to donate to the Haitians.

Large  jugs were passed around for students to dump their donations in during the performances. By the end of the 35-minute lunch period, about $300 had been raised, with many giving 20 and 10 dollar bills.

Microphones, speakers and a dance floor were set out for the performers, and it wasn’t difficult to draw a large crowd. Eclectric and the Floor Puppetz alternated their performances to keep their audience entertained. Various members of the Floor Puppetz come out singly to show off their moves, and Eclectric formed different groups within their members to perform A’Capella renditions of songs including “Man in the Mirror” and “Hallelujah.”

From the size of the crowd and the $300 raised it was obvious that the lunchfest was a success.

“It was really cool how they were doing what they loved to help Haiti.” said sophomore Sarah Kim.
