Otter Club hosts screening of The Cove
The movie focuses on Ric O’Barry, the former dolphin trainer of the well-known dolphin, “Flipper,” and his mission to halt the excessive dolphin fishing and consumption of dolphin meat in Taji.
The Otter Club has been making an effort to reach out to the student body and bring awareness to the public about lesser-known environmental issues that have been taking place all over the globe. Through an interesting, student-friendly movie night, Otter Club is able to both educate students on the horrors of dolphin abuse and raise money to donate to a dolphin-protection organization with a baked goods sale before the movie.
The screening will take place on March 2 at 7 p.m. in the Northwood High Theater. Entry is free, and AP Environmental students attending will be able to receive field hours, while all Marine Science students attending will earn extra credit. So if you’re looking for an opportunity to learn more about today’s most pressing environmental issues, come tonight to check it out.
